The next year, I think it was 2006 I figured out that if you went down before the parade most of the people in costumes where all gathered together at the staging area for the floats. So i could talk with them and they were happy to show off their costume. Even though many of them were on their way to getting plastered I was catching them early, from then on when the parade started, I went home.
